The 2024 winners are Alexander Tøsdal Tveit, Lisa Y. Stein, and Fang Qian / BIOSINK project. The project aims to utilize Arctic atmospheric methane oxidizing bacteria to create biofilters that convert low-concentration methane emissions into biomass, thus capturing greenhouse gases and combatting climate change. The 2023 winner is Minik Thorleif Rosing / Glacial Rock Flour – a simple natural agent in mitigating the global polycrisis. The initiative proposes to use glacial rock flour to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations, improve global food security, and bring new business opportunities to Greenland. The 2022 winners are Marius O. Jonassen and Hanne H. Christiansen / PermaMeteoCommunity project. The project develops an advanced permafrost and meteorological climate change response system based on real-time environmental data in order to build resilience and safety in Arctic communities.
