The aim of this session is to introduce different environmental and socio-economic aspects and recent results relevant to sustainable development of the Arctic - boreal regions. Socio-economic changes are connected to the energy use and energy policy of the region. The energy use is connected to the emissions and changing climate. Quantitative information on socio-economic parameters and observations of the environment and atmospheric composition in needed for the process understanding of the Arctic futures. Session organized is in collaboration with Pan-Eurasian Experiment Program, Arctic PIRE, ERAPLANET - iCUPE programs.
