The panel on the Future of Tourism in the Arctic will look ahead to where various developments are taking tourism regionally, but also around the Circumpolar North. This panel will summarize some of the recent research developments from earlier Congress sessions (specifically 1.7, 2.5, 2.6 and 4.4) as well as recent tourism conversations held at the 6th conference of the International Polar Tourism Research Network in Whitehorse/Dawson City, Canada and POLAR 2018 in Davos, Switzerland, and work done byt eh UArctic Thematic Network on Northern Tourism. The panel will be facilitated by Professor Jarkko Saarinen (University of Oulu), and ask panelists a series of questions that draw out their unique content and regional perspectives. Panelists include: Dieter Muller (Umeå University), Patrick Maher (Cape Breton University), Outi Rantala (University of Lapland), TJ Miller (University of Alaska Anchorage) and Suzanne de la Barre (Vancouver Island University). Time will be available for audience dialogue and questions.
