3.1 Opportunities and challenges of remote sensing techniques to meet current and future needs for monitoring the Arctic
Convenor: Johanna Ekman (Finnish Meteorological Inst.)
Presentation type: Mixed session with presentations and panel
Status: Open for Abstract Submissions
There is a growing need for intensified monitoring in the Arctic to ensure a seamless everyday life, sustainable development and successful operations, such as search and rescue (SAR) in the Arctic. The use of various remote sensing techniques, including satellites and application development ensures a satisfactory service portfolio to meet the needs and requirements of an array of users. In this session we shall identify the critical spots in monitoring the Arctic and the development of remote sensing techniques. Also, we'll discuss new and promising openings in the field.
