Abstract text

Modern social-educational environment is an important factor of students’ personal identity development. This is especially evident in multiethnic environment, when schoolchildren of different nationalities are being trained. In the Arkhangelsk region there live Nenets - representatives of indigenous people of the Far North. Personal identity is an important structure of self-consept and determines the adaptive capacity, socialization and life prospects of a person. However, at present time, there is insufficient data on the development of the structural and content characteristics of personal identity among representatives of indigenous peoples of the Far North. The most significant period of a person's identity development is adolescence.


The purpose of the research is to study personal identity of teenagers, who are  representatives of indigenous people of the Far North of Russia in modern social-educational environment. In the study there have been used psychodiagnostic methods “Investigation Methods of Personal Identity” L.B. Shneider, Twenty Statement Test by Kuhn-McPartland and “Questionaries’ for revealing social-educational conditions”. The study has been held among Nenets teenagers 14-15 years old, living in Nenets Autonomous District in Arkhangelsk region.


As the result of the research the structure and content characteristics of personal identity at Nenets teenagers were identified, the personal identity status has been determined, the social-educational conditions in which personal identity of Nenets teenagers, representatives of  indigenous people of the Far North of Russia develops has been characterized.
