The influence of corporate social responsibility oil and gas companies on sustainable development of the Arctic Zone in Russia

The purpose of the study is to define the role of the factor ”corporate social responsibility” in the sustainable development of the region. The scope of research is the Arctic Zone regions of the Russian Federation where oil and gas are extracted: the Republic of Komi, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Nenets Autonomous District, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the Krasnoyarsk region (Taimyr (Dolgan-Nenets) Municipal District and Turukhansky District).
The primary and secondary data are used. The normative documents and guides to CSR policies as well as requirements for applications for licenses are analyzed to find out the framework for CSR activity. The analysis of the participation of government officials in the management of the company (analysis of biographies) was made. Interviews with representatives of companies and authorities was conducted to define the rules and business practices.
The research resulted is the interrelationship mechanism of corporate social responsibility on sustainable development by the example of the activities of oil and gas companies in the Arctic Zone of the Russian.
