On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Arctic Council and the fifth Arctic Council Ministerial meeting, the Ministers representing the eight Arctic states, convening in Salekhard, Russia, signed the Salekhard Declaration on the 26th of October, 2006.

The University of the Arctic is sad to announce the loss of UArctic Council Member Alexey Cherenkov, Head of International Relations at the Murmansk Humanities Institute.

The Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies offered by Bodø University College enjoys more popularity than ever before at the co-operating University of the Arctic institutions Murmansk Humanities Institute and Pomor State University in Arkhangel.
