The university, which will be celebrating its 50th anniverary on October 20th, will handle the translation of UArctic's website, especially its news section, from English to Russian. The material will become practical work for 4th-year translation students, some of whom are also enrolled in the Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies (BCS) program, under the supervision of their teacher.
Sakha State University has been an active member and partner of UArctic since its launch in 2001, and is involved not only in the organisation's governance, but also in the development and implementation of its programs. Claudia Fedorova, long-term representative of Sakha State University in UArctic and currently Chair of the Council of UArctic, has been instrumental in coordinating efforts in Russia for the north2north student mobility program and expanding membership in Russia, and has also been a driving force in the development and delivery of the Circumpolar Studies Program. The decision to accept UArctic's offer to host the Russian Information Centre is another example of the university's ongoing committment to UArctic.
UArctic wishes to congratulate Sakha State University on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and express its sincere appreciation to Rector Anatoly Alexeyev and Director Claudia Ferodova for their insight and long-term committment to UArctic.
