The UN House was officially opened by Norwegian Minister of Environment Helen Bjørnøy with a UN ceremony featuring the Arendal Militaere Korps. Representing UArctic was Director Lars Kullerud.
The UN House will hosts the offices of the organisation, as well as the newly established International School of Arendal, and is a symbol of Arendal's ambitions of becoming a UN city.
The opening of the UN House was part of the program of the UN week of Arendal program, which features seminars, concerts, films and exhibitions from November 20-24.
