UNC is seeking presentations on areas of research that stimulates discussions on issues in Aboriginal Studies. The suggested subjects include, but are not restricted to: Indigenous research perspectives, Aboriginal people and the environment, social and cultural empowerment, Aboriginal women, community-based programs in the North, education, treaties, Indigenous knowledge, identity, economic and community development, and Aborignial languages.
Presentations may take the form of a 20-minute paper and 10-minute question period, a performance piece, a video, or any other creative approach which expresses and discusses critical approaches in Aboriginal studies or demonstrate active participation in Aboriginal communities.
The conference aims at providing an opportunity for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers to share and advance knowledge of Aboriginal issues, as well as strenghtening and promoting a collective incentive to achieve positive change regarding the current issues that Aboriginal communities in the North and around the world are facing.
