IPY is an excellent way to commence valuable scientific and cultural research regarding the Arctic and Antarctic. IPY is particularly ground-breaking in that scientists from over 60 nations will be collaborating to undertake projects of great necessity. In many ways, the Arctic and Antarctic are the most fragile areas on the planet, IPY projects will measure the effect new changes are having on these remote regions. The launch of IPY is symbolic and represents the world’s innovative commitment to polar research.
