uaf logoThe aim of the workshop is to discuss viable approaches for development of an international community Arctic System Model. Applications are invited from researchers developing and coupling regional ocean-ice, atmospheric, terrestrial, ecosystem, glacier and social dimension models, and others who are keenly interested in contributing to development of a coupled regional arctic model. It is anticipated that the ensuing Community Arctic System Model will capitalize on developments in software to interface clusters of component models, enabling modeling groups to apply their own work and removing the limitation of selecting single ocean, atmospheric, or other component models for the project.

Ultimately, the Community Arctic System Model Project aims to develop a suite of high resolution tools to understand the Arctic as an integrated system, refine model inter-comparison, reduce uncertainty in arctic climate projections, and provide meaningful tools for stakeholders to plan for future conditions in the Arctic.
