Language ideology and language politics, verbal art, orality and literacy, are areas of interest. A solid grounding in linguistic and anthropological field methods is expected. An interest in conducting research in Alaska is a requirement for the position, though prior experience is not required. The Department of Anthropology at UAF has a small but excellent graduate program with both MA and PhD tracks, and teaching will range from basic courses to advanced graduate seminars.
Evidence of teaching experience, publication record, and an active research program are important selection criteria.
