This interdisciplinary National Science Foundation (NSF) -funded Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT, http://www.igert.org) program incorporates social and natural sciences to explore new approaches to studying and managing marine ecosystems.
In addition to interdisciplinary marine ecosystem coursework, the MESAS program provides opportunities for an internship with a partner organization, mentoring of undergraduate students, and interaction with the terrestrial sustainability IGERT at UAF.
Applicants for the fellowship must be US citizens or permanent residents and must be seeking a PhD degree. Other UAF degree students may participate in the program without MESAS fellowship support.
