MoU signed between the UArctic and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation

On the occasion of a trip of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to Oslo for the International Polar Year Oslo Science Conference, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, within the framework of its actions in the Polar Regions, has signed on June 8th a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of the Arctic, a cooperative network of universities, colleges, and other organizations committed to higher education and research in the North.
The University of the Arctic and the Foundation, conscious of their complementarities in the fields of research, science and environmental protection, wished to define the bases of their collaboration. Through this partnership, these two entities are dedicated to acting jointly in fields such as:
- increasing the educational and research capacity of Arctic peoples;
- replicating to other regions threatened by climate change the Arctic peoples’ gained knowledge and ability to deal with climate change;
- working to increase understanding of northern environmental issues and examine the possibility of creating stipend program for southern located students at a UARCTIC member Institution.
This Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr Lars Kullerud, President of the University of the Arctic and HE Mr Bernard Fautrier, Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
