The aim of the conference is to discuss the most
important results of and challenges in the activities of strict nature reserves
and national parks in Russia
and adjacent countries, as well as of regional-level protected areas.
CONFERENCE THEMES
- Promoting international and interregional cooperation
with view to establishment of a sustainable PA system in the North of Europe
- Study and conservation of typical and unique nature
units in PAs
- Issues of monitoring and restoration of disturbed
natural complexes in PAs
- Study and conservation of cultural heritage in PAs
- Environmental education and tourism development in PAs
- Application of modern information technologies
(Internet, GIS, databases, etc.) in nature conservation activities
Proceedings shall
be printed before the conference. Papers to be published
must be submitted before April 11, 201.
Participation in the conference requires a conference
fee of RUR 500, to cover printing costs and services during the conference sessions. For
university and doctorate students, and young scientists (under 35 years) the conference
fee is RUR 300. Payment shall be done upon arrival in Petrozavodsk,
in the book-keeping department of Vodlozersky
National Park.
Field excursions will be organized for participants.

The call for
applications for participation in the International scientific conference “Protected areas in the 21st century:
state-of-the-art and development perspectives” dedicated to the 20th
anniversary of Vodlozersky National Park, which is to take place in Petrozavodsk on June 1-3, 2011, continues. Field
excursions to the Park will be offered to the participants in the period from 4th
to 10th of June.
