The Newsletter contains information about the budgetary issues of the programme as well as short information on activities under its auspices, such as an exibition on finnish speaking people to Finnmark in Norway at Norrbotten Museum in Luleå, Sweden, Vadsö Museum, Ruija Kvenmuseum in Norway and Lapland's Regional Museum in Rovaniemi; or the establishment of the ProcessIT.EU centre of excellence between Finland and Sweden for research and development in the north.
Since 1990 the EU has developed programs to foster regional transboundary cooperation - the INTERREG programs. INTERREG IV A Nord aims at supporting projects in the northern regions of Finland, Sweden and Norway including Sápmi, with a subprogramme specifically aimed at Sámi-related projects.
