The proposal states:
“The committees also believes that an expanded research infrastructure cooperation can help to stimulate intersectoral / scientific research network and graduate education, where USA, Canada, Russia and the EU should be involved. Such an initiative could be very effective if it is based on existing Nordic and international infrastructure for cooperation such as NordForsk, University of the Arctic, IASC and IASSA.”

The Nordic Council has adopted a proposal calling for the Nordic Council of Ministers to “initiate an action plan for an expanded Nordic research infrastructure cooperation in the Arctic to stimulate cross-sectorial / disciplinary network of research and research that includes the U.S., Canada, Russia and EU” in recent session at the Icelandic parliament on March 23, 2012.
