“I am very glad that I became NEFU honorary professor and will lecture for your students. There are some changes at the University of the Arctic. We have adopted a new strategy for network education, focusing on scientific and educational activities. Thematic networks are one of the main ways for cooperation between universities in our network. We are pleased that NEFU actively participates in thematic networks of UArctic and interacts with other university partners”, said Lars Kullerud, the president of the University of the Arctic.

He pointed out that in order to develop cooperation, it is necessary to put emphasis on interuniversity mobility. “It is great that NEFU students actively participate in mobility programs. Our further plans are expansion of our network and engaging with other universities, colleges, research institutes and organizations. We also plan to organize separate programs for the Indigenous Peoples of the North”, Lars Kullerud said.

“We started work on holding online courses. These are special electronic programs, by which thousands of students could be taught. We hope that the students of the North-Eastern Federal University will participate in distance learning”, said the president of UArctic.

Lars Kullerud, President of the University of the Arctic, and Mauri Ylä-Kotola, rector of the University of Lapland, gave lectures within the frameworks of the interdisciplinary seminar “Cold Lands”, conducted by NEFU Department of Northern Studies. In addition, roundtable discussions with partners of the University of the Arctic were held in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
