The programmes support faculty initiated cooperation projects. Activities eligible for support include international mobility of students and staff within project cooperation, development of joint courses and programmes, seminars and workshops.
All programmes support activities linking education and research with enterprises in the public and private sectors, for instance through work placement.
The High North Programme supports collaboration between higher education institutions in Norway and institutions in Canada, China, Japan, Russia, the Republic of Korea and the United States in order to increase knowledge about the High North. Projects can apply for up to NOK 2 million (USD 335,000) over a period of four years. The total financial frame of the call is about NOK 26 million (USD 4,4 million)

Project funds for cooperation with North America
Norwegian institutions of higher education are invited to apply for funds for projects related to higher education collaboration with institutions in the US and Canada. The collaboration must include an element of collaboration with the public or private sectors.Projects may apply for funding up to NOK 200,000 (USD 34,000) over a period of 18 months. The total financial frame of the call is about NOK 2,5 million (USD 420,000)

The Cooperation Programme with Russia supports cooperation between higher education institutions in Russia and Norway. In this call, Norwegian institutions can apply for up to NOK 300,000 (USD 50,000) per project. The total frame is NOK 4 million (USD 670,000).

The UTFORSK Partnership Programme is administered by SIU in cooperation with the Research Council of Norway (RCN). This pilot programme aims at strengthening the linkage between higher education and research in international collaboration, and to increase cooperation between Norway and Brazil, China, India, Japan, Russia and South Africa. For this second call of the pilot phase a stronger emphasis is given on the collaboration between research, education and enterprises in the public and private sectors. Norwegian institutions can apply for up to NOK 800,000 (USD 134,000) over a project period of two years. The total frame of the call is up to NOK 6 million (USD 1 million).
