Almost 10 years ago the first group of UArctic students got BCS diplomas. During the years of mutual work, the CS courses offering institutions and the participatings ones have built close partnership. Vice-Rector of International Cooperation / UArctic Vice-President Interregional cooperation Marina Kalinina emphasized that in the time when the Arctic opens new opportunities for technologies development and use of natural resources, education becomes one of the most important fields of dialogue. Therefore students with knowledge on the Arctic and the North will be very welcomed by employers.

BCS graduates of previous years work successfully at the Norwegian General Consulate in Arkhangelsk, at Administration of the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region, at Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg and other organizations. This is the best indicator of their high employability.

This year, 11 NArFU students got BCS diplomas. Almost all of them had an opportunity to study at UiN during 1 semester. NArFU rector Elena Kudryashova said that the students got not only the diploma of the UArctic – the BCS also allowed them to get unique life experience and new skills including skills of cross-cultural communication with different people in the Circumpolar World.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Arkhangelsk region Elena Dotsenko who underlined the importance of youth activity and told about the Ministry’s support of international youth projects with Northern Countries.

The head of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat’s Russian offices and Norway’s Honorary Consul in Arkhangelsk Andrey Shalev, the annual honorable guest of the BCS ceremony, highlighted the role of regional cooperation which can be seen in the work of different organizations (Arctic Council, BEAC, etc.). University of the Arctic is one of them, giving young people an opportunity to get knowledge about the North.

In their turn, the graduates of 2015 prepared a surprise with many thanks to their teachers from the UiN.
