As a part of the scientific activities for students of the Irkutsk State University and the University of Kiel attended ecological and geographical lectures. Senior Researcher of "Zapovednoe Podlemorye" Natalia Luzhkova told about the system of protected areas in Russia, its similarities and differences with the foreign environmental analogue, nature reserves and national parks on the Baikal coast.
During the interactive module students practiced how to establish new national parks and worked on the complexity of forest management and control water protection zones.
The most impressive thing of the school was hiking to the Chapel cave which is situated on the territory of Baikal National Park. Students were told how to use a scientific approach for the design and arrangement of recreational facilities and how "Zapovednoe Podlemorye" personnel monitor the environmental components on its territory.
