The programme offers opportunities for researchers from both China and the Nordic states, to conduct joint research within leading research institutes in Arctic studies. The programme allows researchers to advance their own research projects while contributing to an increased awareness, understanding and knowledge of the Arctic and its impacts for both China and the Nordic states. The CNARC’s research priorities are:
•Arctic climate change and its impacts;
•Arctic resources, shipping and economic cooperation;
•Arctic policy-making and legislation.
Candidates must be based at or employed by member institutes of CNARC; or be a citizen from and employed by accredited relevant research institutes in China and the Nordic states and have more than two years research experience relevant to the Arctic research.
There are four fellowships available, two for Nordic candidates and two for Chinese candidates. For Nordic fellows, conducting research in a Chinese host institute, office space and lunch is provided, and the stay includes allowances and a monthly stipend for living expenses of up to RMB27,000 depending on the academic rank of the candidate. For Chinese candidates, conducting research in a Nordic host institute, a round trip air ticket and a monthly stipend is provided. The value of the stipend depends on the country and the academic rank of the candidate. The duration of the stay is one to three months.
