The latest addition to the INTERACT products, a highly illustrated popular science book INTERACT Stories of Arctic Science, was launched at the Arctic Circle 2015 conference in Reykjavik.

UArctic, represented by President Lars Kullerud, participated in the Himalayan University Consortium Summit, Oct 28-30, 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) is a similar international network to UArctic, consisting of higher education institutions in the Himalayan region.


Four master’s degree programs at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland will be open for applications December 1, 2015 - January 29, 2016. The programs are Arctic Art and Design, International and Comparative Law, Media Education, and Tourism, Culture and International Management. Studies start in September 2016.

The Polar Research Programme (POLARPROG) has launched a call for research proposals on resource and environmental management in the Arctic and Antarctic. The deadline for this call is 25 November 2015.

Cold Lands workshop

JAMSTEC Japanese agency researchers took part in a Cold Lands interdisciplinary workshop, held in Sakha, North Eastern Federal University. Researchers Rikie Suzuki and Hisashi Sato presented a research on Eastern Siberian ecosystems in global warming.
