The Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen, has two vacant PhD positions for research on indigenous people and governance in the Arctic. Application deadline: 22 November 2015.

The latest addition to the INTERACT products, a highly illustrated popular science book INTERACT Stories of Arctic Science, was launched at the Arctic Circle 2015 conference in Reykjavik.

UArctic, represented by President Lars Kullerud, participated in the Himalayan University Consortium Summit, Oct 28-30, 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) is a similar international network to UArctic, consisting of higher education institutions in the Himalayan region.

From 1 January 2016 there is a vacant PhD position at Sámi allaskuvla/Sámi University College (SUC).

Four master’s degree programs at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland will be open for applications December 1, 2015 - January 29, 2016. The programs are Arctic Art and Design, International and Comparative Law, Media Education, and Tourism, Culture and International Management. Studies start in September 2016.

The Polar Research Programme (POLARPROG) has launched a call for research proposals on resource and environmental management in the Arctic and Antarctic. The deadline for this call is 25 November 2015.

JAMSTEC Japanese agency researchers took part in a Cold Lands interdisciplinary workshop, held in Sakha, North Eastern Federal University. Researchers Rikie Suzuki and Hisashi Sato presented a research on Eastern Siberian ecosystems in global warming.

The University of Washington is pleased to announce the competition for the 2016-17 Fulbright Chair in Arctic Studies is open. Application deadline is 15 November 2015.

"Parallel computational technologies (PCT) 2016" is the tenth annual international scientific conference aimed to develop and employ parallel computing technologies in versatile areas of science and technology. The conference will take place in NArFU (Arkhangelsk, Russia), March 28th - April 1st, 2016

The Likhachev Foundation (St. Petersburg, Russia) and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center (Moscow, Russia), with support of the Committee on External Relations of Saint Petersburg announce a competition for 2-week cultural fellowships in the field of arts and culture.
