The activity will be designed to support USAID and host country governments in safeguarding access to adequate quantities of acceptable quality water for sustaining livelihoods, human well-being, socioeconomic development, and the protection of ecosystem services that underpin these development objectives.
The SWP will achieve these objectives through stakeholder-engaged processes of assessment, planning, and development of financing and partnership strategies to implement targeted measures to reduce vulnerability to priority risks both now and in the future. The activity will support programming related to various USAID funding streams, including water, global climate change adaptation, biodiversity, feed the future, and economic growth.
Any US or non-US organisation, individual, non-profit entity, or institution of higher education may apply.
The total budget is US$65 million over five years. It is estimated that US$3.5m will be obligated to the leader award in the first year as core funding, and between US$2m and $2.5m per year thereafter, for a total of US$13m over five years. USAID Missions and other operating units may provide funding of up to US$52m for associate awards over the five years.
