UArctic Congress 2016 updates

The keynote speakers for the Science Section of the UArctic Congress 2016 have been announced, and the early-bird registration deadline has been extended until June 15.

The French embassy in Sweden in collaboration with Umeå University organize the French-Nordic event: The Urban Arctic. It is part of a series of seminars that will take place in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden during 2016. The Climate and Air Quality Group, under the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM), invites proposals for its Call for projects. This supports projects that describe the interaction between climate and air issues in the Nordic and Arctic region. The deadline for this call is 16 June 2016.

The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland) organized the first workshop on Arctic migration on April 18, 2016 in cooperation with UArctic. The aim of the workshop was to establish a new research team for the Arctic Centre and a new UArctic Thematic Network in the field of Arctic migration.


The HuSArctic project (Arctic Centre, University of Lapland) calls for papers for an international conference with a focus on the Barents region and its environment, sustainability and development, organized in March 25-28, 2017 in Enontekiö, Finland and Kautokeino, Norway. Deadline for abstracts: July 15, 2016.




Almost twenty organizations from Norway, Russia, Iceland and Greenland are involved into this big-scale project leaded by Nord University.
