The merited researchers appointed to the position implement and guide research and education cooperation between UArctic members and thematic networks, as well as build partnerships with the wider Arctic community. The post is appointed for a period of five years.

Timo Jokela, UArctic Chair in Arctic Art, Design and Culture

Timo Jokela is professor of visual arts education at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lapland. Jokela is also responsible for UArctic's thematic network of sustainable Arctic art and design.

Kamrul Hossain, UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education

Kamrul Hossain is director of the Northern Institute of Environmental and Minority Law and a research professor at the Arctic Centre. Hossain is also responsible for managing UArctic's thematic network of Arctic justice.

Tuija Turunen, UArctic Chair in Education for Social Justice and Diversity

Tuija Turunen is dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Lapland and professor of education, especially teacher education. Turunen manages UArctic and UNESCO/UNITUN teacher training networks focused on promoting social justice and diversity in education.

The Arctic university network UArctic consists of more than 200 universities, research centres and other organisations active in education and research in the North.
