ARC-YF invites young community leaders in the 18-23 age group from Alaska, Canada, and Greenland to apply for paid fellowship positions. The application period is now open and will close on October 5, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. EST. Seven fellows from each region and country, for a total of twenty-one, will be selected to participate in this extensive, nine-month Arctic fellowship.
The 2022-23 fellows will have a direct role in building resilient Arctic communities through developing and implementing individual community-based projects designed to aid Arctic community longevity, sustainability, and resiliency. They will participate in a series of online workshops, and will visit Arctic communities in Alaska, Canada, and Greenland for first-hand learning experiences.
Through inter-regional community-based research fellows will navigate the intersection of Western science and Indigenous knowledge to address the impacts of social-economic and environmental changes in Arctic communities. Individual research areas may include:
- Climate change
- Green energy technology
- Resource management
- Sustainable economic and infrastructure development
- Indigenous knowledge, rights, and cultural practices
- Arctic governance
- Local-scale planning
North Star Group is pleased to provide the support to ARC-YF, in collaboration with the Institute of the North, Government of Canada, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Greenland School of Minerals and Petroleum, and Denali Commission; additional partners are welcome.
All interested parties are invited to contact info@arcyf.org. We encourage all young Arctic community leaders to apply!
