Theme for the Nordic Council Environment Prize 2019: Initiatives that promote sustainable consumption and production by doing more and better with less. Anybody can suggest candidates for the prize - deadline is May 15, 2019. The winner will be announced in Stockholm on October 29, 2019 during the Session of the Nordic Council.

Northern (Arctic) Federal University, UArctic TN "Working in the Arctic" and Arkhangelsk Branch of the Russian Psychological Society invite applications for the international conference, which will be held June 27 - 29, 2019 in Arkhangelsk and on the Solovetsky Archipelago in the White Sea. The Calotte Academy 2019 ‘Future Arctic Societies: Scenarios, Innovations, Best Practices & Actors’ will be organized in June 2-9, 2019, in the European Arctic — Inari and Hetta, Finland; Kautokeino, Norway; Apatity, Russia (tbc.). Deadline for applications: March 17, 2019.

The 10th Circumpolar Agriculture Conference will held on 13-15 March 2019 in Rovaniemi, Finland. The theme is “New thinking about local agriculture in the circumpolar Arctic – Best practices, innovations and perspectives”.

A brand-new graduate (MSc and PhD) course on Arctic Tectonics and Volcanism will be held at The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) in Longyearbyen, Norway, 7 June-11 July, 2019.

UArctic Thematic Network on Teacher Education is organising a conference "Developing an Inclusive School" at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland, on March 26-27, 2019. Registration to the conference is now open. The conference is open for researchers, teacher educators and teachers.

Future administrative managers of the Russian north visited Rovaniemi to share their experience in the management of their territory, and to listen and learn from academics, researchers and local leaders about administrative structures and practices used in Finnish Lapland.

On 04-06 February 2019, Finnish delegates representing the Universities of Helsinki, Lapland and Oulu joined their counterpart – representatives from Hokkaido University – at Sapporo.

BSRS 2019 has a general focus on current global challenges and the Sustainable Development Goals, through six multi-disciplinary courses on water, climate change, migration, maternal health, cultural heritage, and poverty.  Current PhD-students from any country are eligible to apply.  Deadline is February 24, 2019.
