UArctic’s Student Ambassador Program is designed to train student leaders in the skills necessary to represent the UArctic network as well as their own home institutions on and off campus, and to grow UArctic’s student community. As the face of UArctic’s educational activities, these ambassadors will be called upon to officially represent UArctic and to promote the network, enthusiastically sharing their own UArctic experiences to highlight the opportunities and benefits that our network has to offer. A full list of the newly appointed UArctic Student Ambassadors is provided below.

The UArctic Student Ambassador Program provides an excellent opportunity for students of UArctic member institutions to join a select group of student leaders engage in representing UArctic at events and functions, and to communicate creatively with fellow and prospective students. Furthermore, with three students sitting on UArctic’s Board of Governors, [Monika Margrét Stefánsdóttir (Student Representative) University of Akureyri, Iceland; Chen Yitong (Student Representative Elect) Ocean University of China; and Jamie Reschny (Outgoing Student Representative) University of Northern British Columbia, Canada], the student ambassadors will also serve as a sounding board for the elected Board student representatives, for example, test new ideas or define courses of action for acceptance or applicability within the activities of the network.
A UArctic Student Ambassadors training workshop, will take place in January 2015 before and during the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø, Norway. In addition to training sessions the workshop will have an educational component, where the group will receive an overview of contemporary Arctic issues from leading experts in the UArctic network under the theme “Sustainable solutions for the Arctic”. In preparation for the workshop, individual student ambassadors will be given an assignment, which will then be presented and discussed. During the workshop student ambassadors will meet and discuss with Prince Albert II of Monaco, as well as UArctic’s leadership and government leaders from several Arctic countries.
