The Fukushima nuclear accident that happened in 2011, was believed to have possible negative impact on the Far Eastern region. This caused great concern in the Russian Far East as well and led to the launch of radiation monitoring systems in the regions closest to Japanese border. Their systematic work and assessments made by researchers and published in open sources, allowed to avoid agitation. Now, in 2018, based on the results of this 7-year research and observation, we can safely state that unlike the well-known Chernobyl catastrophe the Fukushima accident has caused no radioactive contamination on the territory of the Russian Far East.
