Phase II of GEA started in 2017, with the primary aim of further promoting the dialogue on gender, diversity and equality in the Arctic region. This includes a formal network with links to existing networks of experts and other stakeholders, and a webpage for an inventory on existing networks, projects and knowledge holders in the field, relevant case studies, country reports, articles, books or digital material. Please look at the attached for further information about GEA phase 2 or visit our webpage for general information about the project - https://arcticgenderequality.network/.
We appeal to the Arctic Community for information concerning the above and will be grateful for your contribution to this important topic.
It is now in its 2nd phase with project partners from:
Aleut International Association / Government of Northwest Territories / Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network / Indigenous and Norther Affairs Canada / Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Iceland / Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Finland / Ministry of Social Affairs, Family, Gender Equality and Justice, Greenland / The Centre for Gender Equality / The Saami Council / University of Faroe Islands.
Phase 1 of GEA started in 2013 and consisted of the 2014 international conference ´Gender Equality in the Arctic: Current Realities, Future Challenges' held in 2014 in Akureyri, Iceland, and the subsequent conference report published in 2015.
In the 2015 conference report on Gender Equality in the Arctic: Current realities, future challenges a set of policy relevant highlights were identified (see online at https://arcticgenderequality.network). We particularly encourage that you keep these in mind, as we believe they represent the complexity of the issues involved, including leadership, diversity, migration, and health and well-being.
The project partners hope that you are interested in taking part in the network and contributing information and materials. We urge you also to join our Facebook group Gender Equality in the Arctic 2 at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Gender.Equality.Arctic/.
