The appointment is a fixed-term position for a period of three years.
The postdoc is expected to do Arctic International Relations research with a focus on the Circumpolar Arctic. A focus on Russian and Asian interests and policies, and/or on the Arctic as a case of post-cold war power transition and globalization characterized by the economic, political and scientific rise of Asia in the international system would be very relevant, so would science diplomacy. Other approaches to Global Arctic Studies will also be considered.
For appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow, the applicant requires:
- Norwegian doctoral degree or a foreign doctoral degree recognised as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree within social science (political science/international relations).
- The applicant must provide a project proposal with a progress plan encompassing the project’s main activities. It is a prerequisite that the applicant will be able to complete the project within the period of employment.
- Relevant international, intercultural and linguistic experience and competences will be viewed as assets.
- The successful applicant should be proficient in written and spoken English or in a Scandinavian language.
- Personal suitability will be emphasised.
The successful candidate will be required to assist the Barents Chair in Politics research projects on globalization and the Arctic with emphasis on Russian and Asian interests and policies towards the Circumpolar Arctic at UiT equivalent to (up to) 15 %.
