Equal access to good basic education is vital for sustainable development. In the Arctic region, teachers who are committed to and inspired by the Arctic are the key factor in providing good basic education. As the Chair of the Arctic Council, Finland has initiated a project called “Teacher Education for Diversity and Equality in the Arctic”. The project focuses on knowledge exchange around inclusive practices, such as Arctic pedagogy that incorporates indigenous pedagogical practices; innovative approaches to education in sparsely populated areas; community-based education; and pedagogical models for multimodal and digital learning environments.
