Recently, the nature of artistic research has been a hot topic both in the academia and in public debates. While academic research on the arts has existed for as long as the academia itself, the developing paradigm of artistic research has raised questions about the distinctive profiles of the two kinds of research and their potential interfaces. This panel, organized by HCAS and University of the Arts Helsinki, brings together speakers representing a variety of viewpoints on the topic.

The panelists are Hanna Korsberg, Professor of Theater Research at the University of Helsinki; Dr. Tom Cardwell, Senior Lecturer in Painting at the University of the Arts London and alumnus of HCAS's Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Arts Program; and Mika Elo, Professor of Artistic Research at the University of the Arts Helsinki. The discussion is moderated by Kalle Puolakka, Docent of Aesthetics at the University of Helsinki.

The event will be streamed and recorded; the link to the live stream will be published on the event website before the event.
