Elena Beuttner is originally from Berlin, Germany. She came to Rovaniemi for the first time in autumn 2018 as an exchange student. Because she enjoyed her semester in Lapland so much, she knew that she wanted to come back for a longer period of time. Two years later, she moved to Rovaniemi to start the Master’s degree in Northern Tourism at the University of Lapland, which she is currently still finishing up.
As an events coordinator intern, Elena will assist and support the planning and arranging of various UArctic events such as UArctic Rectors meeting, UArctic Assembly 2023 or UArctic Congress 2024. Furthermore, she will write news stories about events and activities in the Arctic as well as maintain UArctic’s social media feeds.
She decided to do the internship at UArctic because she has always been highly interested in Arctic issues and enjoys working in an international environment. Furthermore, it will enable her to gain more experience and deepen her knowledge in event coordination as well as international cooperation.
