Ilisimatusarfik- University of Greenland is holding a two-part workshop on Building Equitable and Beneficial Collaborations in Research in Greenland, on October 27th and October 30th 2023.
The recently released national researched strategy for Greenland calls for the development of ethical guidelines that will anchor research in Greenland. The two-part workshop will examine these issues. In Part I, participants will consider examples of more successful community engagement in research from a variety of disciplines.
In Part II, participants will discuss how to engage in the co-production of knowledge between community members and researchers and other specific practices that might help increase the societal benefits of research.
This two-part workshop series are sponsored and facilitated by Ileqqussaasut: An Ethical Framework for Research in Greenland. Ileqqussaasut is implemented in a partnership with Ilisimatusarfik- University of Greenland, Greenland Institute for Natural Resources, Greenland Center for Public Health, Greenland National Museum, Dartmouth College and Montana State University.
Ileqqussaasut’s objectives are: 1) Co-produce, with key stakeholders, ethical guidelines for the conduct of research collaborations involving University of Greenland; and 2) Develop an initial research ethics infrastructure at the University of Greenland that promotes responsible, collaborative, interdisciplinary, national and international, community engaged research.
