This full-time, fixed-term position will be located in Boulder, Colorado.
The postdoctoral associate will work on the modeling component of the National Science Foundation project “Sea ice-ocean exchange of Arctic microplastics”. The goal of the project is to add capabilities for simulating microplastics in the ocean and sea ice component of the Community Earth System Model (CESM) version 2 and in Icepack, and to then use these new capabilities to study the sea ice ocean exchange of microplastics in the Arctic, including producing projections of future Arctic microplastics distributions.
Requirements for the position include a PhD in a relevant field and coding experience in languages such as Python and/or NCL, experience in the analysis of global climate model output, excitement and curiosity for interdisciplinary climate research questions, ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally, and a promising publication track record.
