The seminars were organised by the project, “Indigenous Cultures in Evolution: Governing Rights and Responsibilities through Sustainable Law and Ethics (INCLUSION)” – a two-years project aiming at strengthening cooperation between the Higher Education Institutions from Finland and Peru. Seminars took place at the University of Lapland and the Arctic Centre on the 9th and 10th of May, 2023.
Three distinguished scholars from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) spoke at the seminars, where they touched upon issues related to Indigenous peoples’ knowledge and rights and their role in society, business, and government. Additionally, the speakers underlined many challenges facing the Peruvian Indigenous peoples and national legal mechanisms for protecting their rights.
The seminars were organized in collaboration with the UArctic Law Thematic Network and the UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education.
