Emerging Leaders is an early-career and mentoring program for PhDs, Post-docs, and young professionals from the public, policy, academic, business and NGO sector working in the Arctic or on Arctic affairs. The program brings together leaders and mentors, and indigenous, business, and policy representatives, to tell the Arctic stories in an educational journey through Northern Norway. Through training, educational, and cultural activities, the Emerging Leaders program serves as an international and cross-cultural platform for dialogue and exchange to support the Arctic leaders of the future.

The 2024 program will run from January 25th to February 1st, 2024, and will center around the theme: Coexistence in the Arctic. As countries race to assert sovereignty over Arctic waters, businesses vie for space in an increasingly competitive market, locals strive to be heard, and ecosystems face daring changes, how do interests intersect and what does a fair coexistence look like?

The program starts in Bodø, continues to the Lofoten islands, and ends in Tromsø. Along this trip, the participants will meet with various mentors and local representatives of different sectors and engage in contemporary discussions and workshops on current visions, trends, and challenges of coexistence in the Arctic. The participants will engage with important stakeholders and prepare video and live contributions to the Arctic Frontiers 2024 conference: Actions and Reactions thereby representing the young Arctic perspective. Additionally, the Emerging Leaders will gain a network of over 250 Emerging Leaders alumni beyond their own cohort.
