This internship is a highly competitive program that provides early-career opportunities in the area of science diplomacy. The internship runs for three months from September to November 2024. The internship covers the cost of travel to and from IIASA (near Vienna, Austria) and the awardee’s home country at the beginning and end of the internship, as well as a modest stipend to offset living expenses during the period of the internship.
The science diplomacy intern will gain experience in developing engagements between IIASA, international organizations, diplomatic corps, policymakers, science diplomacy network, alumni, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will work in the IIASA Communications and External Relations Department, assisting the Science Diplomacy Officer, Alumni and Network Officer, and External Relations Officer with a variety of tasks. This includes support of events with a high science diplomacy dimension, preparation of reports and presentations, facilitation of activities with external partners, creation of information packs, organization of visits, as well as performing other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
