Susan Kaspari, a researcher and professor of geology at Central Washington University, will be presenting findings from her work and updates from her site studies in Svalbard, Norway. She is a recipient of a Fulbright grant to research at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, and she has spent the last few months in Svalbard researching the presence of dust particles from local and global sources in glacial areas.

Join as she presents findings from her work and discusses with a panel of researchers from the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland.

Panelists:

  • Ilona Mettiäinen is a researcher at the Arctic Centre in the Arctic Governance and Arctic Global Change groups. Her work is interdisciplinary and focuses on the co-production of knowledge on climate change.
  • John Moore is a research professor at the Arctic Centre in the Arctic Global Change group. His areas of focus are climate research and glaciology.
  • Markku Heikkilä is the Head of Science Communications at the Arctic Centre. He will moderate the panel discussion.

Audience members will have the opportunity to raise questions and make comments following the panel discussion. The conversation is supported through University of Lapland by the American Arctic Connection program of the US Embassy.
